Upcoming events

Shalom,

I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
This week we will start reading our Hebrew chapter books in class. Each book focuses on a different time period in the Jewish and Israeli History. Our Book is "Anshei B'reshit"' which describes Israel of the early 1900.

Next week is our fall poem festival. Parents are invited to join us on Thursday at 1:30 at the shull. The wining fall poems will be announced.

Starting next week, we will devote a few minutes each Friday to current Israeli music. By turn, each student will have an opportunity to choose an Israeli song and present it before the class. While presenting, the students will share with the class some interesting facts they researched about the performer.
Soon enough, we will all be very familiar with current Israeli music.
The students will show me the clip and lyrics of the song they choose, and will present it before the class after approval.

Hebrew 7/8

We have been studying and learning poetry written by famous Israelis. The topic this month is "It's a blessing!" concentrating on the High Holidays. We read a poem about "Shalom" . We had a spelling test on Wednesday, 9/9/09. Thursday we started to read a new poem entitled HaDerech shel kulam veshele (The Road of Everybody and Mine) by Leah Goldberg. Students are to find some background information about the poet's life.
